DAY 1 Journey and Household – On the second anniversary of my sister’s translocation from California to Arkansas, I lastly set foot in “The Pure State” to pay her and the remainder of the household a long-overdue go to. Whereas my function was to go to household, those that know me, know I don’t go wherever with out performing some analysis and planning about any close by birding alternatives.
After an early begin from Hughson (HUG – LOL) at 2:00 am (9/16/2023), I loved a very uneventful easy flight from Sacramento (SMF) to Dallas (DFW) after which to Little Rock (LIT) the place my sister (JAN) and brother-in-law (GARY) have been ready.
We stopped first at Matt and Trena’s home to say hello.
A one-minute pause on their yard balcony resulted in a Yellow-billed Cuckoo (visible solely), Brown-headed Nuthatch, Carolina Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Tufted Titmouse, Downy Woodpecker, Blue Jay and Northern Cardinal (visible solely). Not a foul begin!
Subsequent was a cease by Jamie and Kristin’s home after which to Richard and Jenifer’s home for a household pizza get collectively. It was so good to speak with everybody.
From there it was a 90-minute drive to Fairfield Bay and the Hartley Wildlife Sanctuary (my nickname for his or her stunning property within the forest by Greer’s Ferry Lake). After a 20 hour street journey, a little bit sleep was on my menu!
